Nike ISPA is known to borrow inspiration from the most atypical of places, every release more unexpected than the last. And while their newest silhouette, the Universal, may feel familiar in its design — which is somewhat reminiscent of clogs, slides, and other casual footwear — it, too, is certainly no exception.

Unveiled in two colorways, the Nike ISPA Universal is certainly among the sub-label’s most grounded of offerings. But it’s exactly this reason why it feels so out of left field, as the model forgoes the utility typical of past entries, opting instead for a design relatively minimal. And while foam may construct the entirety of the shoe, the uppers impart a certain natural-like feel, conjuring to mind images of bones and freshly-discovered fossils.
